Dr. Mark Graycar utilizes D.N.F.T.™ or Directional Non-Force Technique™ chiropractic exclusively. D.N.F.T.™ is the original low-force method of chiropractic. There is NO cracking or popping, only GENTLE and SPECIFIC chiropractic adjustments. D.N.F.T. utilizes a diagnostic system for subluxation analysis consisting of gentle challenging and a unique leg check. This testing allows the body itself to indicate the directions of misalignment of structures that are producing nerve interference. A gentle but directionally specific thumb impulse provides a long lasting correction to bony and soft tissue structures. D.N.F.T. is able to achieve structural corrections without torquing, strong thrusts, and associated popping sounds that are often associated with traditional chiropractic.
In 1979 Pamela withdrew from a 13 year career in molecular biology because she needed to dance. Specifically, she began to explore ballet, a lovely inspiration but a structurally challenging physical discipline. Fortunately for her, she also discovered Ida Rolfe's Structural Integration around the same time. A nearly immediate change began to emerge in her ballet performance – a deepening connection between mind and body - what she envisioned in her mind translated naturally into her body. A focused exploration of the body and its structural mechanisms ensued, leading to a life commitment to true healthcare, both as practitioner and researcher.
Remaining dedicated to the the work of Ida Rolfe, “...understanding lies in the feet”, Pamela's curiosity centered on how the practice of integration related to other treatment systems, as evidenced by other practitioner's view of reality. As a founding member of the Circle Health Center in 1987, she experienced the value of practitioner collaboration in treating the whole patient. When Mark Graycar suggested linking the three disciplines, enabling the patient's discovery of an accelerated healing freedom, all roads were cleared, seas opened, and Upward Spiral emerged; This partnership represents a career's culminating moment to advance true healthcare forward.
Walkbetween Acupuncture: a comprehensive and integrative healing modality in which acupuncture facilitates body-mind-spirit attunement and true health. By listening deeply to your words and your pulses, I tune into your innermost being, making “somatic sense” of symptoms and blocks that keep you from moving through your life with ease. I will talk with you about these, so that a clear picture may arise, a pathway where your energy, on all levels, wants to move. The treatment I then choose follows this, your unique healing path.
In the Upward Spiral, my choice of treatment largely evolves out of Pamela's and Mark's work, following and integrating the new pathway that wants to unfold in your body. While my treatments focus on alleviating what is most primarily disturbing, I address in depth the holistic well-being of my patients. Body, mind, emotions, and spirit are always attended to, in every session. To me, this is crucial – you cannot take away (negative) symptoms without putting (positive) resources in place.
I am a licensed acupuncturist, certified by the national board (NCCAOM).
